About Bisquit

Bisquit is a rescue and was adopted from the Winnipeg Humane Society (WHS) by his new family in February 2020 before the pandemic hit us. Bisquit arrived at the WHS badly injured from burns on his back. His burns have healed but his fur will never grow back in spots.

Bisquit was very untrained when we adopted him and we have worked hard to learn his language as well as teach him ours. We continue training with him constantly to teach him new things.

How Bisquit Got His Name

My mum and dad came to visit me at the Winnipeg Humane Society on February 6 2020. When they visited me I started in a different room because I was making my first Youtube video! So they waited for me in my room. When I walked in, my future mum was in a chair to my right and my future dad was sitting on the floor. I looked at my future dad, walked over to him and flopped onto his lap. I then squirmed off his lap to go say hello to my future mum. I gave excited kisses to everyone!

My future mum and dad said they wanted to think about this decision and put a hold on me for twenty four hours while they talked about adopting me. On their way home from seeing me they decided that they would go out for lunch at this place that was new to Winnipeg called Popeyes Chicken. When they got home with their lunch they opened their food and there was a biscuit, the same colour as me! They decided that if they adoped me to call me Bisquit, with a Q to be different instead of a C.

Bisquit's Adoption Story

On my adoption day, which was February 7 2021 I had to be picked up by noon or I would be going to a different family. My dad got in his van at 10:30 and left the house without saying anything to my mum. As the time got closer to twelve, my mum was getting upset because she hadn't heard from my dad. They were supposed to come pick me up together!

What my mum didn't know, was that my dad fell in love with me as soon as I flopped onto his lap. My dad came to the Winnipeg Humane Society alone and talked to the hoomans about bringing me home. We bought a collar, and a jacket to help with my bare skin, a leash and a treat for when I got to my new home!

My mum was calling my dad and he turned off his phone. Boy was he in trouble. I then got to take my furever ride to my new home. I was so excited but I sat in the front seat of the van with my new dad and watched everything as we drove home.

When we got home we opened the back door to come in the house but did not walk in so no one knew I was home. Mum yelled across the house "Where the heck have you been?" except she didn't say heck. She was very upset with my new dad. Then my dad undid my leash and I started running across the house to see my new mum and she was so happy she hugged me and started crying.

I was finally home.
